With a mission to serve the poor, in 2023 representatives from King’s Ransom Foundation in Texas were invited to visit the poor in Honduras to see if they might be able to help. They discovered homes riddled with holes that barely provided enough cover from the rain, floors that were nothing but dirt and packed mud, beds made up of old unsanitary mattresses, and blankets that were soiled with mildew, filled with tears, and dirty beyond belief. They saw firsthand the inhumane suffering and poverty and knew they had to find a way to help.
Over 30% of the Honduran population suffers from severe poverty which includes food insecurity and improper housing, meaning they are living in houses made from trash and the limbs of trees. The poor often only have access to unclean water; using the nearest source of water to wash their clothes, cook the food they happen to find, and drink it.
King’s Ransom partnered with a group of generous donors who chose to give towards building villages to alleviate the poverty in Honduras. They launched ‘Hope for Honduras,’ a project to help build community housing in which 100% of the funds donated go directly to the poor.
With a goal to raise $1 million dollars by the end of 2024, the community homes they build will provide pride and humanity to the suffering. Individuals and families will have a place to raise their children in a safe environment, protected from the elements, and a community to live where people can work together to create opportunities for each other. Community Members will combine all their talents and abilities to create income-producing activities that will enable them to live sustainably, never returning to poverty again.
Every penny, nickel, and dime given will go to the cause of building homes in Honduras. It is King’s Ransom Foundation’s commitment to each donor.
