Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy and Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding

The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Huawei Technologies of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at developing cooperation in the field of digital energy. The document was signed by Ilyas Bakytzhan, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Zhao Xu, General Director of Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan.

The signed memorandum provides for cooperation aimed at the implementation of joint innovative projects in the field of digital energy, strengthening the scientific, technical, and production potential of the Unified Energy System of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The collaboration with Huawei is also expected to accelerate the modernization of smart grid solutions, the integration of more sustainable energy infrastructure mechanisms, and the overall optimization of energy management processes.

“Increasing the level of automation and digitalization of the energy system is aimed at achieving several important goals. First of all, automation will improve the operational management of the power system, expand the use of data from industrial automation systems, and increase the integration of renewable energy sources. Secondly, the use of artificial intelligence will increase the accuracy of forecasting energy production from various facilities. Thirdly, digitalization will significantly improve the quality of diagnostics of industrial equipment,” stated Ilyas Bakytzhan, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the memorandum creates prerequisites for improving regulatory acts and harmonizing international standards in the field of energy system management based on international expertise and best practices in the field of digital energy. This approach lays the foundation for positioning Kazakhstan as one of the leaders in the adoption and implementation of new generation energy solutions.

Cooperation with Huawei will also contribute to the development of human capital, the implementation of joint research and educational projects aimed at improving the professional level of personnel in the industry, enhancing the scientific potential of universities, knowledge in the field of digital energy, and fostering the acquisition of digital skills among citizens. Huawei, a global leader in technology and innovation, is also ready to offer cutting-edge solutions and unparalleled experience in the development and support of green energy.

“The cooperation agreement aims to modernize the country’s energy sector with a focus on innovation, human capital development, improved regulation, and economic competitiveness. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan is heading for a qualitative transformation of the energy sector of Kazakhstan and the introduction of green technologies, and Huawei is ready to contribute to the digital transformation of the country’s energy sector. This partnership marks a new era of opportunities to shape a more sustainable, technologically advanced, and digitally enabled energy future for Kazakhstan,” said Farida Toleubayeva, Deputy CEO of Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan.

As part of this cooperation, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and Huawei intend to implement innovative projects aimed at improving the country’s energy sector. One of the key initiatives proposed by Huawei is the creation of a comprehensive White Paper that brings together global energy expertise. It will summarize international best practices, cutting-edge technologies and strategic ideas to address challenges and seize opportunities in a rapidly changing energy landscape.

Another important aspect of the agreement is the joint launch of an innovative Smart Grid pilot project designed to optimize the operation of power grids, improve energy efficiency and facilitate the integration of renewables into the power grid. The project focuses on the use of new technologies such as cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and Huawei marks a significant step towards harnessing the power of technology to drive positive change in the energy sector. The introduction of high-tech solutions and tools will have a long-term impact on Kazakhstan’s energy landscape, contributing to innovation, environmental sustainability, and the country’s economic development.
