IBT Announces New Cardiovascular Sonography AAS Degree Program

The Institute for Business and Technology (IBT), located in Santa Clara, California has announced a new Cardiovascular Sonography Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree program. The new Cardiovascular Sonography AAS Degree program will add to IBT’s profile of programs that cater to students motivated to enter the healthcare field.

IBT’s new AAS Cardiovascular Sonography program is designed to prepare graduates for employment as Cardiac Sonographers. The Cardiac Sonographer plays a key role in today’s modern diagnosis and treatment team of Cardiac disorders. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects increasing growth in this field as sonography becomes an increasingly attractive alternative to radiological procedures. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of cardiovascular technicians is projected to grow 14% from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations.

IBT’s Cardiovascular Sonography AAS Degree program is a traditional in-person program, achievable in as few as 24 months. Students complete a total of 129 quarter hour credits through a combination of General Education courses, as well as specialized courses and labs including Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Principles of Electrophysiology, Sonographic Anatomy & Pathophysiology, Echocardiography Techniques, and Medical Terminology.

Students in IBT’s AAS Cardiovascular Sonography program learn how to perform ultrasound procedures, produce and prepare images, and transfer images into file, video tape, or computer systems for interpretation. IBT students learn to demonstrate clinical proficiency of sonographic procedures, and exhibit behavioral skills that reflect professionalism, effective communication, as well as time management skills.

Upon completion of the program, graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science, Cardiovascular Sonography Degree, and are prepared for entry-level positions as a non-invasive cardiovascular sonographer in a variety of medical settings, including imaging centers, physician’s offices, clinics, mobile units, and hospitals.
